The Quest
I set out in the Spring of 2012 on a quest to bird in all of Vermont's 251 towns and 4 gores... the "251 Town Birder" project was born. The project was conceived, in part, as an effort to divert the sadness that came from my Dad's passing; but it was also conceived as a way to help the Vermont Center for Ecostudies get a sampling of bird species from every corner of the state. All of my observations are logged in the eBird system (www.eBird.org/content/vt).
This website will allow me to share with you where I have gone, the birds I have seen, the adventures, and the beautiful scenery of Vermont. I've lived in Vermont since 1969, but I had never seen so many beautiful villages and vistas.
By the way, there are actually 255 localities to check off: 247 organized Towns, 4 incorporated Cities, and 4 unorganized Gores and Grants -- for a total of 255 'towns'.
